BK Landscape Design

ABOUT ME:

I've been practicing in the field of Landscape Architecture and construction for the past 19 years, and earned my degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly, SLO in 2003.

I spent my early career in the traditional landscape architecture industry as a designer and design project manager. In that role, I gained experience in the design, entitlement process and construction detailing areas of the profession.

My quest towards greater understanding of the built form came in the following  years working for a reputable landscape contractor doing estimating as a tool to understand the, 'nuts and bolts' of construction and wearing multiple hats in a design build firm. I bring a  construction minded approach to all of my daily roles; pulling from that background in design, process, construction and relationship management to assist in bridging the design-build gap and focusing on collaboration in order to achieve a well executed project.

I'm a bay friendly qualified landscape professional, member of the APLD and have professional certificates in greywater design and installation as well as installation of rainwater harvesting systems. In addition, my designs have been recognized in the CLCA small installation category, APLD international design awards, Houzz awards, bay friendly garden tour and have been featured in articles for Marin home magazine. More specifically, I've created or been part of a team that has designed and implemented development master planning and detailing of typical conditions, storm water management, erosion control and bioswale design, WELO guidelines for high efficiency irrigation and water efficient plantings.

At the end of the day I come home to my loving wife and two young children residing in the historically charming town of Petaluma.
